Furuno ECDIS, FMD series – Online training

Furuno ECDIS (FMD 3100/3200/3300)

The online type-specific ECDIS training course will provide you with knowledge of the functionality and effective use of the Furuno FMD ECDIS (3100/3200/3300/3005 series). The training course is compliant with regulatory demands for maker-approved type-spe­cific certification.

The course is based on the requirements of the STCW CODE, Table A-II/1 and Chapter VIII, Standards regarding watchkeeping, Section A-VIII/2, Part 1 “Principles to be observed in keeping navigational watch”, paragraph 36.

The content of the online training course and the certificate is the same as if you attended a classroom training course.

Level: Basic.

Relevant for: Navigators operating the Furuno FMD ECDIS (3100/3200/3300/3005 series) today or are planning to do so in the future.

Duration: This online training course can be taken at your own pace, with the possibility to enter and exit the course as often as you require. Estimated time: 16 hours.

Admission recommendation: Generic ECDIS certificate.

Course content

  • Familiarization with available functions and the menu structure.
  • Display setup and setting of safety values.
  • Recognition of alarms and malfunction indicators and the appropriate actions to be taken.
  • Route planning and monitoring.
  • Changing to back-up systems.
  • Loading and updating charts and licenses.
  • Software updating.

Training certificate: The training course includes small tests after each lesson, eliminating the need for a final, conclusive test. When you have passed all tests, a certificate will be generated immediately and issued on the NavSkills™ Online platform.
